Port Lincoln Relay for Life this weekend
More than 500 people will descend on Centenary Oval at Port
Forty-five teams of locals have been fundraising for many months, with it all to culminate in 19 hours of celebration and remembrance, beginning on Saturday. Member for Flinders and cancer survivor, Liz Penfold, will officially open the event at 2 pm, when survivors and their carers walk ahead of all the teams in the survivor’s lap. Among those will be Relay for Life’s oldest participant, Archie Paterson, who this week celebrated his 100th birthday. A moving candlelight ceremony will take place at 9.30 pm, remembering those who have lost their battle to cancer. Relay for Life is the premier community engagement event of The Cancer Council South Australia, raising much needed funds for research, support and education. |
