The exciting fundraising initiative encourages people to create their own personalised online fundraising campaign to raise money for vital research and cancer support services such as the Cancer Council Helpline (13 11 20). The five highest online fundraisers by January 13 will enter a draw to win two tickets to an exclusive Lance Armstrong VIP dinner valued at $5,000, while the highest fundraising team will win a table for 10 at the Tour Down Under Legends Dinner valued at $2,000. All registrants who raise more than $100 by January 21 will also enter a draw to win one of five double passes to the VIP viewing area during Stage 5 of the Tour Down Under, from Snapper Point to Willunga. The launch of the online fundraising program follows Cancer Council SA’s announcement yesterday that it will be the official charity of the Tour Down Under for the next three years, including naming rights to the 2009 Down Under Classic – to be renamed the “Cancer Council Classic”. Cancer Council SA Chief Executive, Associate Professor Brenda Wilson, said the online fundraising program is a terrific way for all South Australians to join the fight to beat cancer. “This is a fun, easy and personal way for people to support the ongoing battle against cancer and help raise vital funds for the Cancer Council Helpline (13 11 20), which provides cancer information and support to thousands of South Australians every year,” Associate Professor Wilson said. “Not only will you be contributing to a worthy cause and assisting people affected by cancer, but you will also be in the running to win some fantastic prizes including a dinner date with world cycling great and cancer advocate Lance Armstrong.” To join the fight against cancer and start fundraising online, visit www.cancersa.org.au Cancer Council SA is the state’s leading cancer charity and is ‘here to help’ all people, facing all cancers, through cancer research, prevention and support services.
