Westpac thinks pink to support women affected by breast cancer

The Westpac Women’s Markets team is hosting an exclusive ‘Touch of Pink’ luncheon on 23 October, 12 - 3 pm at Adelaide Pavilion, Veale Gardens, to help Cancer Council SA beat breast cancer.

Guests attending the Pink Ribbon fundraiser will enjoy an afternoon of fabulous fashion and food featuring a preview of the stunning 2009 Spring/Summer collection by South Australian fashion icons George Gross and Harry Who.

Local business woman, Virginia Bullock, will share her own inspirational story of breast cancer survival and success at the helm of Home Support Services.

Winner of the 2009 Ernst & Young SA Central Region Entrepreneur of the Year Award (service category), Virginia pioneered Australia’s first ‘hospital in the home’ program, which now provides health care to more than 20,000 Australians each year.

Westpac’s Regional General Manager in Adelaide, David Fagan, said that all proceeds from the luncheon would support Cancer Council SA’s Pink Ribbon appeal to fund breast cancer research, prevention and support for those living with breast cancer.

“We invite guests to wear a touch of pink and join us in the fight against breast cancer, a disease that affects so many women and their loved ones,” said Mr Fagan.

According to Cancer Council SA Chief Executive, Professor Brenda Wilson, more than 1,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in South Australia each year.

“Events like these not only raise vital funds for research but raise awareness about the need for prevention and early detection in the hope that fewer women’s lives will be lost to this disease,” said Professor Wilson.

Tickets to the event are $95 per person which includes a two-course meal, beverages and a complimentary gift bag.
